Zoloas was a gnome adventurer in the First Age who is said to have chased a red dragon on Worfin Island and attempted to cast a "charm creature" spell on it. In some versions of the story he failed, but in others he succeeded and learned much about dragons by this method. Either way, Zoloas is said to have studied and accumulated dragon lore.
