Yarleg son of Karleg was a dwarf of Azmar Island. He was the oldest son of the Warlord Karleg of Azmar. After the death of the warlord Karleg in the Battle of Ogre Island, Yarleg became the ruler of the Realm of Azmar and took the title of prince. He was known as Prince Yarl of Azmar. During his reign, Ogre Island was recaptured by ogres and Sheep Island was also conquered by Ogre Raiders even though it was part of the Realm of Azmar at that time.

When Yarleg son of Karleg took the title of Prince of Azmar, this inspired Noreg, the leader of the Port Town Militia, to declare himself a prince as well and to establish the Realm of Stondar in a blatant effort to copy and surpass the glories of Azmar. This is why both of the first two dwarven princes began their reigns in the same year. It is not a coincidence that the Battle of Ogre Island was also fought in that same year. It was the death of Karleg in that battle that led to the accession of Prince Yarl. Noreg was present for this since he had participated in the battle.
