Thoreg lived in the time of the Elder Gods and is one of the very few to survive the cataclysm that destroyed the world of the Elder Gods. Thoreg lived in Port Town on Punkett Island which became one of the fragments of the world of the Elder Gods that survived the cataclysm and from which the new gods recreated the world.

Thoreg is the blacksmith of Stondar City, formerly known as Port Town. He is also its leading magic merchant and was the leader of the Dwarves of Port Town until his son, Noreg became the leader of Port Town and later Prince of Stondar. Thoreg's rival in business and politics is the Gnome wizard Grivenek who also is old enough to remember the days of the Elder Gods.

Like all other survivors of the time of the Elder Gods and many more recent people, Thoreg is one of the "soulless" people who have no soul. His son, Noreg, however, does have a soul and often takes the lead on family matters that his father cannot deal with.
