Stondar City

Page history last edited by Gamemaster 3 years, 8 months ago

Stondar City was previously known as Port Town and also as the City of Stones. The name Stondar is derived from City of Stones. It is not clear why it was known as the City of Stones, but there are many large stones at the harbor there and alonside the city walls. Also, the city has a city wall and towers made of stones. In the early days of the First Age, it was the only city that had streets paved with stones. Also, unlike all other cities of that time, most of its buildings were made of stones. The name was changed from Port Town to Stondar City by a decree of Prince Noreg in the first year of his reign as prince.

Stondar City is the capital of the Realm of Stondar. It is located on the south end of Stondar Island. It is the oldest settlement in the known world and the only settlement from the time of the Elder Gods that survived the great cataclysm and continued to be inhabited afterwards.

Before being renamed Stondar City and becoming the capital of the Realm of Stondar in the reign of Prince Noreg, Port Town was an independent city inhabited by Dwarves and Gnomes. It had no official leader, but a Dwarf named Thoreg and a Gnome named Grivenek were the dominant leaders. After Port Town was raided by ogres during the Ogre Wars, the dwarves there formed the  Port Town Militia, led by Thoreg's son, Noreg,  Noreg used this position to consolidate power, drive out the gnomes, make himself Prince and annex additional territory. Noreg is notorious for his hostility to non-dwarves. He has decreed that only dwarves may visit Stondar City.
