The Realm of Azmar is one of the two most powerful realms in the known world. It is inhabited by Dwarves and Gnomes. It is ruled by a dwarf named Prince Yarl of Azmar. Azmar Island is the main territory of the Realm of Azmar. Azmar also claims Ogre Island and Sheep Island, but both of these have been conquered by Ogre Raiders and Sheep Island was subsequently captured by Lord Garon's Army and Lord Garon declared independence.

The Realm of Azmar was founded by the Warlord Karleg who led a shipload of colonists from Port Town in the early days of the First Age.

Its main settlement is Azmarton on Azmar Island, but it is ruled from Azmar Castle on the same island.

The Real of Azmar has been shaped by the rigors of the Ogre Wars in which its founder, the Warlord Karleg, was killed.

The Realm of Azmar is also known for its role in the origin of the rangers. The first ranger was an elf named Thaero who volunteered to help the Realm of Azmar and was appointed High Ranger of Azmar by the Warlord Karleg of Azmar. This title was confirmed by Prince Yarl after Karleg's death.
