PvP (Player versus Player combat)

We have gone back and forth on how to do PvP. I've planned on having PvP enabled everywhere and currently it is. The thought is that those who like PvP can defend the others and then the fighting has more of a purpose and it creates more of a realistic social dynamic where crime is possible and you need to consider whether you want to form some sort of society with laws or customs.

 

Of course, there are also the gods who can intervene if things get too far out of hand. That intervention can include casting spells on various places (or even the whole world) making PvP impossible.

 

When I say "too far out of hand", I don't mean that PvP needs to be kept in limits. I wouldn't mind it if 1,000 PKers battled warriors from an alliance of guilds in a giant war that rages all over the world. That might actually be interesting. If there is any area that is "behind the lines" for at least a while, that might be enough for the people who want to stay out of it.

 

What I mean is that if the way PvP is being handled starts driving away lots of players, that's when the gods are likely to intervene.

 

On the other hand, I have been convinced by other members of the team that maybe we should have some non-PvP areas. Right now I don't think there are any though. It's PvP everywhere right now I'm pretty sure.
