A sea that appears on ancient Maps of the known world in the time of the Elder Gods. When most of the lands of the known world were submerged beneath the sea in the Great Cataclysm, the Middle Sea expanded or was united with other seas to form the Great Sea that today surrounds all the islands of the known world.

The name of the Middle Sea may be a clue as to the existence of other lands now lost. There are no lands south of Port Town on the ancient maps and no such lands are known today. Yet the salient point remains: what was the Middle Sea in the middle of? If it was in the middle of various lands, then there must have been more lands in the South that are today totally forgotten and don't even appear on ancient maps from the time of the Elder Gods.

It has been speculated that such lands may not have been entirely submerged and there may be more islands there. Some have suggested the possibility that such lands did not sink at all and a vast mainland may exist there. Various ships and sailors have searched in vain for such lands and found nothing but open sea.
