We know these maps aren't all that accurate. That was done on purpose because it's supposed to be a low technology world so we used primitive-looking maps. We are quite capable of using the game software to provide actual images of the land as viewed from overhead like aerial photographs. If this were a world that had aircraft and photography, we would have done that.
