When you run out of health points, your character will be dead.

It is planned that death will be permanent and you will have lost your character. However, gods can resurrect the dead and some wizards and clerics already have this ability as well. In early sessions of the game, gods have routinely resurrected anyone who was killed, but do not expect this to continue indefinitely. It will probably become more difficult, not less, to be resurrected.

Currently dead characters do not drop all their items, but we plan to change that so that they do drop all items and all money. The dead go to the Pit of the Dead which is planned to be expanded into a more extensive underworld. The Pit of the Dead is not the same as the Pit of New Souls which new characters pass through as they enter the world, but it may look identical.

In the Pit of the Dead or the Underworld characters usually have one health point restored. This does not mean they weren't actually killed. If your character was fighting, fell to the ground, woke up in a pit or the Underworld and has only one hit point, you died. Especially if a message appeared on your screen that said, "You have died.... GAME OVER". That message might be changed. Especially if the Underworld becomes extensive enough that being dead isn't quite the end of the game.
