Allort

Page history last edited by Gamemaster 2 years, 11 months ago

It is said that in the great cataclysm that destroyed the world of the Elder Gods, that all the Fair Lands were destroyed and with them, all the elves. Though there are rumors of survivors, these rumors are generally believed to be false. When Kraylus remade the world, there were no elves left alive. But the magic that the Elder Gods had used to create Elves still existed in the fragments of the world that survived the catacylsm.

From this remnant of magic, the god Kraylus decided to recreate the Elves as well as humans and others who had perished entirely in the cataclyms, but he delayed doing so. Then, the soul of Allort sought to enter the world and used the magic of the Elder Gods to become an elf. Kraylus had decreed that the time was not right for the return of the elves and had intended to prevent their return by holding any elves that appeared in the Pit of Souls and not allowing any of them to enter the world. In those days all new souls passed through the Pit of Souls before entering the world. Blocking them from leaving the Pit of Souls should have kept them out of the world entirely.

Benefitting from the Magic of the Elder Gods and a flaw in the spell Kraylus had cast, Allort appeared directly in the world without ever passing through the Pit of Souls. Kraylus soon fixed this spell, but seeing that Allort was already in the world, he decided to allow elves to enter the world after all.

Thus did Allort enter the world and for this he is known as the oldest elf and as First Among Elves. He was the first mortal wizard to use script magic and he is considered the greatest elf wizard of the First Age.

Allort was present in a group of about a dozen people who rode out from Port Town on horseback, led by Abacus, to see the site Abacus had selected for a temple to Kraylus. Later, Kraylus himself is said to have planted the Sacred Tree on that site and built the House of Amunra next to it. The main temple was built later.

Despite being one of those who visited the site of the Temple of Kraylus before it was even built, Allort later prayed to Krellin to become first High Priest of a religion honoring Krellin. The legends say that Krellin appeared to Allort and granted this request, thus making Allort the first High Priest of the religion thereafter known as Krellin's Flock Allort is said to have had Krellin's help making magic spells.

Allort participated in the effort to drive Ogre Raiders off of Sheep Island as part of Lord Garon's Army. Even though Allort was not present at the Battle of Sheep Island and never actually fought on Sheep Island, Allort was given a land grant by Lord Garon of Sheep Island. The land grant gave Allort ownership of the summit of the tallest mountain on Sheep Island, henceforth known as Allort's Mountain.
